Really excited to get the meat back from our first ‘Ranby Curly Coat’ pigs, inspired by the Lincolnshire Curly Coat, we’re crossing our Mangalitza sow (Mabel) with some amazing British rare breeds to create some very exclusive and delicious pork. This first cross is with a Berkshire boar and we’re so chuffed with how it’s turned out, loads of creamy, melting fat and well marbled muscle that is full of flavour.

This one of a kind pork will be gracing the menus of @tomoldroyd_ @thedukeofrichmond & @garethbartram.chef @winteringham_fields very soon and at our own supper club on the farm this coming Sunday.

One of our Mangalitza/Berkshire crosses or ‘Ranby Curly Coats’ as we like to call them! Almost a year on pasture and a diet heavy in herbs, potatoes and other treats from the garden has resulted in some gorgeously chubby porkers that promise to really deliver on the plate.

We have very limited amounts of these lux pigs available but please do get in contact if you may be interested in putting on your menu in the future 🐷

Mabel, our fabulous Mangalitza sow, feasting on sugar beet with her gorgeous Mangalitza X Berkshire piglets. 6 weeks and growing well, many of these guys will be sold as weaners with a few staying on the farm to fatten into next years pork. We are so excited to cross a delicious breed like the Manga with the fabulous heritage British Berkshire, creating a delicious one of a kind product.

Tomorrow we send a pure Mangalitza off to slaughter and have half a pig of marvellous marbled pork looking for a home. Do DM if you’d like it ❤️🐷

The pigs crunching through all our windfall apples and other end of season treats from the market garden. This year they’ve taken advantage of all our gluts from plums to beans and beetroot to borage. Happy pigs = tasty pork 🐷
